Extra hard route! The cycling route will take you over the southern slopes of Ivanščica and picturesque hills through the villages of Belec and Gornja Batina. The route is very difficult and only good mountain bikes should be used. Descent from Ivanščica is especially difficult because of the demanding terrain. That is why we recommend everybody to use – when returning from the peak of Ivanščica – the same road they came from.

The route begins in the village of Martinšćina, next to the Church of St. Martin 1. Start on the road straight towards north and you can expect the ascent at very beginning, because it is not easy to ride up and down the slopes of Ivanščica. After 1,1 km from start, the asphalted road ends and the forest road, which leads to the peak of Ivanščica, begins. The ascent continually to the Y intersection 2 and turn left. The route leads over a bit more flat terrain, and then it starts descending. This is an opportunity to rest, because new ascents will follow.

After 6,3 km from start, you will reach the mountain lodge Majer. This is a great place to rest and enjoy the views of surroundings. Right after the mountain lodge Majer, you will come to the intersection 3, where you must keep right and follow the signposts for the top of Ivanščica. Here another ascent begins. The whole time you are riding through the forest, down a very good road. After 8,9 km from the start, you will come to the intersection 4, where you must keep right and continue uphill. With each meter you master, you are getting closer to the top. At the T intersection 5, turn right and follow the main macadam, and soon you will reach the Y intersection 6, where you must keep left. To the right, an asphalted road branches off.

Finally, after 12,5 km from start, you will reach the peak of Ivanščica. It’s needless to say, that this is an ideal place to rest. You can have lunch in the mountain lodge Pasarićeva kuća. You can also climb onto the nearby pyramid and enjoy the beautiful view of the surroundings. There is no other way from the top but downhill. When riding downhill, we recommend you to use the same route you came from. However, if you feel capable and skilled enough, you can continue the route. During the whole way down from Ivanščica, you must be very careful. At the Y intersection 7, carefully turn left. The path is very steep and inclined. After the rain, it can also be very slippery. At the Y intersection 8 (14 km from start), turn right and follow the signposts for Belec. To the left, the road to Ivanec branches off. After 14,6 km from start the ride becomes easier and turns into the macadam road. At the Y intersection 9 (14,8 km from start) turn left. The intersection can be easily missed, so be careful.

Follow the main macadam road and – at 17,3 km from start – you will exit the forest and a beautiful view will open up. In the village of Gornja Selnica the macadam road ends and the asphalted road begins. Soon you will reach the T intersection 10 (19 km from start), where you must turn right. Careful, the intersection can be easily missed. After 20,2 km from the start 11, carefully turn right and continue through Belec to the Y intersection 12 (24 km from start), where you must keep right. The route ends next to the church of St. Martin in Martinšćina after 27 km.

2. Y intersection, keep left. The route flattens.
3. Intersection of several macadam roads. Keep right and follow the signs to the top of Ivanščica.
4. Y intersection, turn right uphill.
5. T intersection. Turn right and follow the signs to the top of Ivanščica.
6. Y intersection. Keep left.
7. Caution! Steep descent. At the Y intersection, turn left.
8. Caution! Steep descent. At the Y intersection, turn right.
9. Caution! At the Y intersection turn left. The intersection can be easily missed.
10. T intersection. Turn right.
11. Caution! At the intersection, turn right towards Belec.
12. Keep right
