Cross-Border Ride&Bike Route – River Sutla
Imeno - Miljana
This short, but sweet cycling route will take you through the valley of the river Sutla, that is, through both Slovenian and Croatian part of the valley. The route is suitable for all the categories of cyclists, because there are not too many ascents and the entire route leads over the asphalted roads.
This cycling route begins in the village of Hum na Sutli (Hum on the river Sutla), situated at the border crossing between Slovenia and Croatia. The ascent to the village of Lastina begins already in the center of Hum na Sutli and this is the only climb on this route. The route leads downhill through the villages of Mali Tabor and Prišlin and glides along the river Sutla. The route continues down the roads with reduced traffic, by the left bank of the river Sutla with lovely views of the surrounding area. The area is not very populated and the route passes through the villages of Donje Brezno, Harina Žlaka and Miljana (19 km from the start).
In the village of Miljana, turn right over the border crossing and ride until the village of Imeno, where the cycling route continues to the north. Soon, you will reach the village of Podčetrtek, where you must use the national bike trail D5, which will take you to Rogaška Slatina. You will pass near the Terme Olimia – a great place for recreation. After Podčetrtek, continue along the cycling trail, renovated in 2015. Ride along the river Sutla through the villages of Nimno and Pristavice. After 36 km from the start, you will reach Rogaška Slatina and continue eastwards through the village of Tržišće until Rogatec, where this short but sweet route ends.
